One of my favorite parts about being a Pitt student is being surrounded by a community of hard-working, determined individuals who are actively giving their best effort to make a positive impact on their peers, the community, and the world. It challenges and inspires me to take action and encourage others to do the same. Therefore, I am honored to have the opportunity to lead the first branch of Bridge Beyond at Pitt. Given that last year was the first time being an active branch chapter in the middle of a pandemic, our activities as a club were mostly behind the scenes, such as engaging in virtual service events and listening to guest speakers. Although we were not able to participate in outreach volunteering in person, our work was crucial in better understanding homelessness and housing instability and how Bridge Beyond fits in the community advocating and assisting individuals experiencing homelessness. This year I am eager to apply what we’ve learned last year to expand the vision of Bridge Beyond by engaging in outreach activities and further educating ourselves and the community.
